Pedometer

My school got a bunch of these pedometers. I figured I'd get one and see how much activity I get in a given school day. I got this around 1245 this afternoon and by 8 tonight I'd taken 5,240 steps! Apparently the goal is 10,000 for every 24 hour period. We will see how this goes! I have to keep track from now to March.

I sure am grateful for my mother-in-law tonight! She prepared dinner for us and brought it over. It was really helpful since I'm trying to get caught up at work this week after being gone. I had some errands to run after school so it was nice to know I was coming home to this. Thanks, mom!

I discovered Starbucks passbook for my iphone today. You download the app, load your virtual Starbucks card and then you can pay for coffee with your phone! It's sort of a gimmick but I think it's pretty cool.

Tradition

Every year we go to Brian's parents and everyone helps decorate the downstairs tree. Actually the kids mostly do the work. Every year someone gets a turn to put on the topper. This year it was Gideon's turn - the youngest grandchild. It will be another 7 years before he gets a chance to do it again! :)

I was excited to find this pre-lit greenery at Wal-Mart for $9.99. Yay for holiday deals! And yay for holiday decor.

Bandage

Today we took Brian's bandage off and he finally got a shower. The incisions look pretty small. I'm thankful everything seems to be going well as far as the shoulder is concerned. Definitely having some other complications but just so grateful it's not related to the shoulder!

Let The Baking Begin!

Every year I bake lots of goodies to give out to neighbors, coworkers, friends and family. Last year I totally slacked. This year I am making sure that doesn't happen! Starting this evening I am going to get a head start on some holiday treats. Some items on the list include: snickerdoodles, M&M cookies, peanut butter kiss cookies and chai butter cookies. That's the first serious batch. 

Bday Dinner

Today's my hunny's birthday! We already did our celebrating but I still wanted to make the day special. He got a gift along with cards made by my students. For dinner I picked up a burger and shake and a big ass cookie, too.

Post-Op

Brian had his long-anticipated shoulder operation today. I can't tell you how grateful I was when I finally got to see him. He went in about 830AM and I didn't see him again until 12. It was the longest 3.5 hours of my LIFE! I'm thankful for insurance, modern medicine and medical capabilities!

Tree Up

We put up our big tree in the living room this evening. This is our fourth year with this tree and I still really dig it!

Santa's Little Helper

We are getting our Christmas decorations put up a tad early this year since Brian is having surgery Monday and may not be in the mood to help next week. We put up the small tree in our bedroom tonight and Huxley helped us test the lights. 

MY Birthday Boy!

Brian's birthday is coming up and tonight we went out to celebrate. After a fabulous dinner at a fancy steakhouse we went to the casino where I surprised him with some friends. :) It was a good night and thanks to video poker we went home $150 richer! Happy Birthday, sweets! I love you!

Never-Ending Work Day

My workday started at 8:00 this morning and ended at 8:30. Needless to say something like this was in order. I didn't have time once conferences got rolling but I was thankful for the thought!

School Lunch

Today was Thanksgiving dinner day at school. It's usually quite scrumptious. I always get excited when we have this meal and buy a lunch.

I am really enjoying the Jasper Fford novel I'm reading right now. Each chapter starts off with one of the society's rules. Many of them, such as this one, are pretty ludicrous.

This is the first installment of a birthday gift from my brother and his family. The program is called Birchbox. Every month they send you beauty care samples. I'm pretty intrigued by the whole thing. In this month's box I got a full size liquid eyeliner, nail file, eye shadow, perfume. Good stuff!
