I was really excited this week when I found a can of pretzels in the refrigerator section at Aldi next to biscuits and the like. We had them today for lunch. Not as amazing of Auntie Anne's or other "mall" pretzel stops but pretty dang good!

What a hot, humid, sticky day.... the perfect day to get a snow cone! There's a stand near our house and I see it every year but have never stopped. Today Jen and I checked it out and we were not disappointed! I have a feeling it will be a frequent stop this summer.

This was my summer gift to my kiddos. Not sure if I'll do it again next year. While cute, it wasn't the easiest thing for the kids to hold on their way out the door. Also, due to the hole punch and tipping, some lost some powder. I didn't think of that... Lesson learned.

All that helping in my classroom today tuckered out poor Brian. We both took an afternoon nap. I love afternoon weekend naps! Huxley doesn't have an excuse for being exhausted but he is a cat and I guess that in itself is enough of an excuse. He napped with us.

Today was a girl's day! My friend Jess and I took a day off school (we're both teachers) and we treated ourselves! We got our nails did, had some wine, walked the mall and enjoyed happy hour dinner and drinks......it was a much needed distraction from the busy end of year activities at school.

We had a little popcorn party this afternoon during Reading. I handed out the kids' compliment books and treated them to popcorn. They earned something special. They also brought stuffed animals. I love working with kids who aren't too cool for stuffed animals.

I got these sweet chop sticks as a gift from a student today. I am excited to have our own reusable chop sticks for home. We always forget to request them with take out and then I have to use a fork.

I am on this DIY kick. Tonight I decided to try making my own foot scrub. The scrub I adore comes from Bath and Body Works and costs like $18.00....this doesn't smell as good but it does the job. I figure I can fix the odor with some essential oils. YAY for DIY and saving money!

With the excitement of end of year and having to pack up everything for the summer construction in my classroom, I am just getting down to the report card business. I brought home my grade book tonight (in photo) and got cracking.

I saw this bumper sticker and had to giggle. There's a game I play with myself some mornings as I sleepily make my way to work. There's a bank on an intersection I pass and each morning there are always a few people milling about in the parking lot with this glazed look. It's so strange and they truly just wander to and fro with these blank stares. I tell myself they're zombies. After seeing this bumper sticker I wonder how accurate my zombie sightings really are?!

YAY for fresh sheets! There aren't many things in life I enjoy more than a freshly stripped bed. I am running a bit behind this week. Generally sheets are changed Saturday but it just didn't happen with a busy weekend behind us. Can't wait to cuddle down in them.

Here's yet another culinary success which just took minutes to whip up. I threw together some whole wheat pasta, canned diced tomatoes, fresh spinach and cheese to create this dinner. Put it in the fridge with directions and let hubby do the rest. It was yum.

Tonight was one of those late evenings at school. I didn't leave until nearly 630. This glass of Cab at Noodles & Co. was a wonderful way to start my evening. Tonight is the night Brian and I aren't doing any work. We played cards and watched some Parks and Recreation. Gotta take time and savor the simple things!

If you follow me you'll notice this is only the second book I've talked about this year. Such is the life of a busy school teacher. No time for recreational reading of my own and when there is time, I can't keep my dang eyes open. This got me through the night as I worked out and did laundry. I'm really into and hope to finish it and move onto book 3 soon.
