The more I get used to being a teacher, the more ways I find to streamline and organize things. It feels SO good to change things up and make them more efficient. I used funds from PTO to purchase these cute containers from Hobby Lobby and today I reorganized my guided reading stuff. YAY.

I am quite excited about the begonia I received from a student today! I love any sort of plants and hope to really build my collection of both indoor and outdoor plants this spring and summer. I can't decide where to put this beauty. It's on my desk for now. Plants=positive energy. :0)

Today is a cause for celebration. 1 because it is my Grandpa George's 89th birthday! Congrats to him. He is one of the people in my life I most admire. 2 reason is because we celebrated Angela's 23rd birthday today!

My spring break is sadly coming to an end. Tonight is the last night to just kick back and relax. Tomorrow I'll be hitting the books again and getting back in the swing of things. We are trying the Shock Top variety pack. Yummy. Also plan on catching up on some TV shows, playing some games and we rented Drive.

Brian and I started our day at Castlewood State Park. We went to one of our favorite spots right down by the river. We sat awhile, walked awhile and picnic'ed. One of my favorite places around here.

What is Neurobliss? You don't know? I don't either but I seriously dig it. I treated myself to one today, along with a bag of pretzel m&m's. I enjoyed the gorgeous weather and the view from my balcony seat today and it was...blissful! I FINISHED a book which is a miracle for me these days - woot! I read in Real Simple that ladies need more down time. This brought me to question my own amount of true down time and it's not much at all. The moral of the story is, I would be a happier and better wifey if I make time for ME. I did make time today and plan on making more time in the weeks to come.

Thank God I married a man who can take things apart and put them back together! Today while vacuuming I ran over one of Huxley's toys and it looked like I destroyed the vacuum. Brian jumped right to action and not only was able to fix my mistake, but cleaned out all the hair while he was at it! What an awesome man! Very thankful for his mechanical abilities!

Day of Green

Here's my cute husband! We set out in search of bagpipes, green beer and corned beef and cabbage. We didn't do so well. Downtown was sure to be a mess with severe storms in the forecast. We started out in the Delmar Loop area which was dead (due to the green holiday). It was a gorgeous morning and it's one of our favorite streets to just wander. We visited Blueberry Hill - a St. Louis MUST! From there we headed to Llewelyn's, an Irish Pub. No traditional music or Irish dancers (as their website promised). We tired of waiting here and decided to head to the casino. We don't do that much so it was a fun time. We did find some corned beef and cabbage at the buffet here :)

We went to the STL Repertory Theater this evening. Something we have enjoyed doing lately was attending the performances with Brian's grandparents. With grandma passing, it was too painful for Grandaddy or Mom to attend. We graciously accepted the offer of the last 2 season tickets for tonight's show. It was A Comedy of Errors - a modern twist on Shakespeare's play. I really enjoyed it. I love live theater.  

Pleasant Surprise

It hasn't been the greatest week so far. I need spring break to be here already. After our day yesterday Brian's folks came and surprised us with a Starbucks gift card. It was super sweet of them and it did cheer us up. Tonight when I went to do laundry I grabbed a tea. It helped me make it through the laundry process. I'm not gonna lie - this teacher is burnt out. 2 more days.

Rude Awakening

Shoulder alert! That is what I woke up to at 5 this morning. Actually I was already up because Huxley was acting a fool. Brian's bad shoulder came out of socket in the middle of the night. It's gotten THAT bad! I had to finagle him onto his tummy and then yank on his arm until it went in! ICK. I guess I did OK though because it did go back in. I am thankful for these lovely little pills today that can give Brian a bit of relief. He is in a lot of pain.

Michael Scott (from the Office, of course) and I do not have much in common. We do have one thing though - Chili's. I love everything about Chili's. Is that silly? Probably so. Jen and I met again at Chili's this evening. Fun times. The waiter there is starting to know us!

8-5 is NOT the life for me. Which means that while it may be 10:30 on a weeknight, I just finished working not long ago. The perk here is, I got my NEW district laptop this week! Exciting! I am thankful to be somewhere they provide computers. I couldn't do my job without it.

I made a yummy quiche this evening. I am really on this quiche kick lately. This most recent one includes tomatoes, onion, mozzarella and breakfast sausage. I did not use a recipe. It turned out pretty good. I did overfill the pie and spill egg all over the kitchen but I've never been the neatest cook. :0)

It's now 9:30 and the excitement of the day is done. It was a long, emotional day. We memorialized Grandma Charmayne Singer today. We gathered at Sutter Church to celebrate her amazing life. We visited with relatives and friends. Interesting how death brings us closer together. Now that it is quiet, it seems to be sinking in. Life without Grandma will be much, much different for us all. I feel honored to have known her, to have been her granddaughter if even for a short time.

I just finished getting my nails all polished up for the big day tomorrow. Grandma Charmayne's memorial service is tomorrow. Considering the number of people she touched, it'll be one packed show. We are staying over at mom and dad's tonight. I hope it's helpful and comforting to mom to have us here.

I received these amazing flowers from my school today in condolences for Brian's grandmother. The flowers really remind me of Grandma. They're bright and cheery. I am so blessed to be at such an amazing school. Makes me even sadder thinking about not being there next year. I just have to be thankful for each day.
